Lots of excitement around the Audi Sport Quattro Concept.
The Audi quattro concept was first presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2010. It commemorated the 30th anniversary of the original Audi Quattro and the Audi quattro four wheel drive system. It was based on the Audi RS5, it featured a modified 2.5L five-cylinder TFSI engine and the sixth generation of quattro transmission. Reports suggested that Audi were considering a limited production model (200–500 cars) based on the quattro concept, but the project was shelved in 2012.
Now in 2013, Audi presents the Audi Sport in the form of a 700bhp hybrid. The power is delivered by a 552bhp 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine (as in the Audi RS6 and RS7) plus a 110kW electric motor (powered by a rear-mounted lithium-ion battery). The price is expected to be above anything currently offered by Audi so expect to pay in excess of £130,000 if you want one. Performance wise, claims suggest 3.7sec 0-62 time and a 189mph top speed.
We’re not so sure about the choice of launch colour. Maybe it looks better in the flesh…
